Shelf styling

Shelf styling

The humble shelf, it’s your best friend when it comes to home styling.

Shelf styling is the perfect solution for any space, it’s so easy to curate and swap around with the changing seasons.

If you need some shelf inspiration, just have a look around your home for items you can display. There are so many examples that can be used as great shelf décor.

Books with decorative covers are easy to display or pile a few up to act as a plinth for an ornament. Framed prints, greenery, faux, dried or real plants always look great hanging from a shelf.

You could display things you find in nature, pine cones stones, twigs, shells collected on family holidays

How about framing a child’s drawing, a lovely card or maybe frame some free samples of a beautiful, patterned wallpaper or some lovely wrapping paper.

There really is a whole world of opportunities when it comes to shelf styling. One word of advice though, shelf styling needs a common theme that hangs together. For example you could limit the colour palette as is shown on the picture ledges below.

Experiment with different heights, colours and textures, for example pottery, baskets, vases, and candles. Artwork is always great for adding height and interest, I would recommend using taller items at each end of the shelf to create balance.

Not forgetting the shelving unit, an excellent way to add colour and interest to your room with some well chosen ornaments, plants, candles, books and small lamps to create light and shade. This works best with a limited colour palette matching in with your room décor.

This shelf uses chopping boards, jars of dried food, weighing scales, herbs and spices in decorative jars and tins. A few faux plants in decorative tins or pots help break up the space along with some framed prints..
